Description

LOA 9' or 10' 9" Beam 34"

The plans come as 10 sheets giving the details required to build both the 9ft and the 10.8ft versions, and are available in either metric or imperial measure. They come in printed form (10 sheets of A3-sized paper and a 22 page colour-illustrated instruction booklet) or as a pdf file sent via a secure link for you to print out. The scale will only be correct if printed on A3 or larger, but that is not important as all of the measurements are listed on the plans, so you could even work from 'Letter' sized prints. The plans have plenty of detail, as well as comprehensive instructions. This is a very simple boat, which is a great-fun family project - to build and use.

Basic plywood requirements are two sheets of 6mm/1/4" marine plywood. The boat can be built from 4mm/5/32" ply, but additional bottom panel stiffening is recommended.

Feedback:

Hi Chuck,

You might like to add this excellent photo to Ross’ plans page of his Water Rat design. It shows the two sizes available nicely snuggled together during maiden launch in arid & hot central Australia. They were built as a group effort with Ross’ distant advice & encouragement. Note that nobody is keeping an eye out for Crocks here as the fresh water variety are much friendlier than the bigger “salties” closer to the coast.

Cheers.

Allan burke.
